Frequently Asked Questions

In what states can Dr. Bechor treat clients?

I am licensed to practice psychology in Florida, and I have been approved by the PSYPACT Commission to treat clients in 42 states across the country. See here [https://psypact.gov/page/psypactmap] to learn more about PSYPACT and to see if your state is included. Further, I have considerable experience treating children and adults for various problems across the country (all four time zones!), and I have developed specific guidelines for creating and maintaining a safe environment for virtual clients. Feel free to ask more about my teletherapy practices in a consultation call!

What can I expect in treatment?

Beginning with your consultation call, I work with you as a teammate to better understand what behaviors you (or you on behalf of your loved ones) seek to increase and decrease to achieve a more ideal life. Around the end of our intake phase (which will likely take 1-3 sessions), we will work to create a treatment plan with specific targets. Throughout treatment, we will review thoughts, emotions, actions and sensations that are associated with problem behaviors and I will coach you (or your loved one) to create change (e.g., changing a response to an urge). After most sessions, you can expect to be sent a link to an article, website, handout or tool that will enhance skills outside of session.

I am unsure whether Emblem Psychology is right for me. What can I do?

Please call or text us at 954-516-1082 and complete a free, 15-minute consultation with Dr. Bechor.

Are virtual sessions less effective than in-person sessions?

Recent scientific evidence suggests that internet-delivered, structured Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is as effective as in-person therapy, particularly for anxiety, depression and trauma.

What is your cancellation policy?

Appointments may be rescheduled or cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment, or missed sessions in which the client does not attend in the first half of session, will be charged the full session fee.

What are your office hours?

These are flexible. Typically, I am available Monday and Wednesday afternoons, Friday mornings, and Tuesday and Thursday evenings and weekends upon request.

What are your fees?

I offer a free, 15-minute consultation. Please contact us for pricing about 60-minute, 45-minute and 30-minute sessions. Intensive treatment options (e.g., double sessions, multiple sessions per week) are available. I provide a secure portal link, which provides privacy and payment, for all of these services.

Do you take insurance?

I am currently out of network for all insurances. I am happy to provide a superbill to support my clients’ obtaining reimbursement from their insurance provider. Please ask me more regarding other ways I can work with your insurance company to support your care.

What if I am unsure whether virtual sessions are right for me?

I supported young children, teens, adults and older adults during and after the pandemic in full-time remote care for several years. In doing so, I have learned that it is my responsibility to assess whether online care is appropriate for my clients, and I have found that online care is much more about my client’s attitude about treatment than whether the client is in person with me. If you are unsure whether to try online care, I suggest you discuss it with me at any time in our work together, and throughout that time, I will continue to assess whether virtual care is the right fit for your treatment needs.
